Hello! Welcome to La Battaglia. The home of a very politically irate Italian. The title means "The Battle" and the subtitle means "The Truth of Italy".
Generally speaking, this site will be relating to both news and general blog (I guess you can call them editorials?) of all things revolving around Italy.
There will only be FACTS and TRUTH on this website (probably!)
THIS SITE WILL CONTAIN:
I will do my absolute best to maintain a neutral stance. Contrary to popular belief, it is much harder than it looks to be unbiased when writing political spiel, emotions are (believe it or not) pretty hard to let go of! If you so much care about my opinion and what I actually think about on the matter, then look no further to my 'editorials' (AKA my blog).
You'll find out soon enough what exactly this website will be, but I am very tired of the recent global sensationalisation of news and media, there is hardly any consistent place where you can get RELIABLE and TRUE information. It's become a little sickening, and it's become ESPECIALLY sickening in Italy, where I'm from. To combat this, I decided to make this little site, I'll compile only the most accurate news about Italy for myself and post them here. In regards to my "editorials", it is for the same reason anyone else writes a blog, to sound smart.
The (modern) media is absolutely putrid, no better way to describe it. The media, in all its forms, has become the epitomy of what news should not be. I mean seriously, why is it that everytime I go and look at at the news, they feed us selective bites all while talking heads try and "decipher" (aka manipulate) whatever event is unfolding. As a world leader speaks, a pundit begins speaking for them, and I just lost 30 minutes of my time. Since when did the media make this their priority? I hate it.
No, I won't be doing the same. There's a reason I have two different categories for my OPINION (blog) and the NEWS.
It's difficult to prevent unconscious bias from entering any article, but believe me, you'll know it if you see it, you aren't stupid. That being said, I will NOT put my own opinion in the news section, this by extension would make the news articles a lot shorter, considering all it will say is what actually happened rather than what my interpretation of the event was. Word of warning, any news article that is extremely long is usually one full of faff and unsolicited opinion.
Here's an image of the clock situated on the Palazzo Quirinale (Quirinal Palace), think of it as a symbol of the current state of Italy.
