Well, originally I was only going to mention my sudden (frankly inevitable) hiatus from this website, but apparently September had other things in store... politically speaking.
What DIDN'T happen I think would be a shorter list, but the world went from witnessing the murder of someone in the United States, to witnessing the very first completely digital election in history, that being the Nepalese interim election, all happening near the twenty-fourth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Vagueness aside, the unfortunate assassination of Charlie Kirk may very well be a seminal event in the ever worsening history of the United States, I think that can be safely said.
Despite the name of the website seeming otherwise, I am against ANY and ALL political violence, it solves nothing in the long run and all it does is spread misery, this sentiment goes for all of La Battaglia's posts. I find it extremely disappointing for us as humans that we seemingly lost the ability to be empathetic towards one another, considering that many people are outright cheering for the death of another man. It should be noted that this is becoming a more US issue rather than a global one however, I seldom see people in Italy consider the death of someone, or the success of any terrorist attack/shooting/massacre to be something to celebrate about, Italians have experienced the horrors of the Years of Lead, and we lost a Prime Minister because of it. So speaking as an Italian, please don't fall under the same malaise as we did.
It's my blog, leave me alone. Kidding aside I think my blog and my news are two separate things, obviously I'll almost exclusively talk about Italy in the news section of the website, but my blog is my blog, so stay tuned for 'not always Italian politics'.
Despite the (unplanned) hiatus, I will still be posting here and posting news updates, I am one person, so don't expect industrial level posting of news articles, be sure that I will try my best to keep it as high quality as possible (script-wise, I still don't know how to make a page look good in HTML).
By the way, I will be in the future adding an Italian language option to the website, seems only fitting considering this is an Italian centred website.
Yours sincerely, Michele
