Italian Prime Minister Meloni visits the White House

On 18th August 2025, United States President Donald Trump hosted a meeting with several leaders of the Western world, the leaders who participated (excepting President Trump) were as follows:

The summit mainly regarded information and discussion on the Russo-Ukrainian War, extending to the recent discussion of security guarantees to Ukraine via the Western world. On the matter, Italian Prime Minister Meloni extended her committment to said guarantees and support for the US peace plan to end the Russian Invasion of Ukraine that began in 2022. In affirming these guarantees, Prime Minister Meloni further amended in saying:

"I also have to remind that if we want to reach peace and if we want to guarantee justice, we have to do it united." - Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni

Meloni has reaffirmed Italy's committment to support Ukraine, and further reiterates (as mentioned prior) that Italy will continue to support the US committment to peace between Russia and Ukraine.

Moreover, Meloni expressed that she was happy that the security guarantees set out in the meeting are akin to Article 5 treaty of NATO, further adding in saying:

"The lets say 'Article 5' model was Italian at the beginning, so we are always ready to bring our proposals for peace, for dialogue, it's something we have to build together, to guarantee peace and to defend the security of our nation." - Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni
