I am very tired of the recent global sensationalisation of news and media, there is hardly any consistent place where you can get RELIABLE and TRUE information. It's become a little sickening, and it's become ESPECIALLY sickening in Italy, where I'm from. To combat this, I decided to make this little site, I'll compile only the most accurate news about Italy for myself and post them here. In regards to my "editorials", it is for the same reason anyone else writes a blog, to sound smart.
The (modern) media is absolutely putrid, no better way to describe it. The media, in all its forms, has become the epitomy of what news should not be. I mean seriously, why is it that everytime I go and look at at the news, they feed us selective bites all while talking heads try and "decipher" (aka manipulate) whatever event is unfolding? As a world leader speaks, a pundit begins speaking for them, and I just lost 30 minutes of my time. Since when did the media make this their priority? I hate it.
No, I won't be doing the same. There's a reason I have two different categories for my OPINION (blog) and the NEWS.
It's difficult to prevent unconscious bias from entering any article, but believe me, you'll know it if you see it, you aren't stupid. That being said, I will NOT put my own opinion in the news section, this by extension would make the news articles a lot shorter, considering all it will say is what actually happened rather than what my interpretation of the event was. Word of warning, any news article that is extremely long is usually one full of faff and unsolicited opinion.
Italy's government is... complicated. In fact, it is seldom understood properly, at least in the Western world. The issue lies with a great overlooking, both in the Italian media (just see the garbage they play at RAI or the glossing over they do at TG7) and the more well known 'mainstream' media (such as CNN, Euronews, BBC). While I don't blame the mainstream media for getting it wrong (as usual, they don't do that much research on any country other than their own), the same CANNOT be said for Italian media, they're in Italy for crying out loud. Essentially, since the Italian media is incapable of doing their job (informing the people), I'll try to get people to understand the Italian government and its systems a little better, hopefully I won't leave anything behind, and I'll try to be as unbiased and accurate as possible.
Yes - of course they can, and my guide isn't going to be perfect, but those websites are a sea of directories and long paragraphs, and I don't mean like what I have on this site right now. Take one look at the Italian Senate website, try and find something I'm talking about in my government guide, and you'll see what I mean. That's not to say that all Italian government sites are like that, some of them are pretty easy to find information in. Point being, I'm annoyed, and I answered this question.
